I’ve been playing WAR for the past week or so and it has utterly failed to grab my attention. This is rare. Usually, for a triple-A game, I get at least a couple weeks of solid entertainment before boredom sets in. For me, WAR has many core problems and honestly, I’m not sure why the [...]

AoC: PvP is fun again, but is it fun enough?

Kheshatta was the busiest it’s been in weeks…maybe even months. Lots of battles going on all day long, even early in the afternoon when Kheshatta is usually empty. It was a really nice change and one I hope will continue.
It was beyond great to step into a PvP fight and actually stay alive for long [...]
Age of Conan: PvP patch delayed yet again

UPDATE 9/17 As many of you have already discovered, it was only delayed by one day (thankfully). I’m currently downloading a HUGE patch (with an equally huge patch notes). Considering just how many changes are happening to the game at one time, honestly, I’m rather skeptical that the game is even going to run.
The resignation [...]
Warhammer Online: 1.5 million sold to retailers!!
Posted in MMORPG, Warhammer Online, tagged head start, MMORPG, preorders, WAR, Warhammer Online on September 15, 2008 | 1 Comment »
According to a press release released by Mythic, they have sold 1.5 million units to retailers! Now, if you look at the wording, that doesn’t mean all 1.5 million units were sold to players. Nor does it mean there were 1.5 million pre-orders. It simply means that 1.5 million units were sold to retailers (where [...]
Warhammer Online: Core or Open? Order or Destruction? RP?
Posted in MMORPG, Warhammer Online, tagged head start, MMORPG, peru, PvP, servers, WAR, Warhammer Online on September 14, 2008 | 4 Comments »
Sounds like the head start for Collector’s Edition players is going as smoothly as you might expect. There are long queues for the popular servers (2 hours??), even though Mythic had a great server rollout plan. Some people are experiencing crashes. But many people are having fun, with few issues and little lag.
Both the Core [...]
Warhammer Online: Head Start dates and times

Collector’s Edition Head Start begins on September 14th at 7am EDT.
Normal pre-order Head Start begins on September 16th at 7am EDT.
Sigh. I’m disappointed that Mythic is giving people who plopped down more money to buy the CE version the chance to reserve all the popular character names 2 days ahead of time. From what I [...]
Warhammer Online: 47,000 concurrent open beta players
Posted in MMORPG, Warhammer Online, tagged Launch, open beta, WAR, Warhammer Online on September 9, 2008 | 10 Comments »
Because Mythic is not supporting an official forums, I’ve been using the VN Boards and Warhammer Alliance forums to keep up-to-date on news. Here is a list of more forums. Official statements about server status and various updates can be found at the Warhammer Online Herald (an official Mythic website).
Mythic posted a status report regarding [...]
Warhammer Online: My 2nd day of open beta was annoying
Posted in MMORPG, Warhammer Online, tagged MMORPG, open beta, WAR, Warhammer Online on September 9, 2008 | 6 Comments »
I’ve decided to stop playing the open beta. I’m not enjoying the experience because it’s just so generic. Bugs and various issues are starting to annoy me. At the moment, I’m hoping when the game goes live, I’ll be able to level past all the newbie content quickly and I’ll discover that WAR has more [...]
Warhammer Online: My first day of open beta was boring

First, a couple disclaimers. I only played to level 4 on a few characters. I also realize that the game is still a ‘beta’ version.
Overall First Impressions
Surprisingly, WAR is exactly how I imagined it would be. Unfortunately, that is not a good thing. For MMORPG veterans (especially WoW), the low level experience is incredibly cookie [...]
Major concerns about Warhammer Online and its launch

“It’s beta!!”
I’ve been browsing various Warhammer Online forums (apparently Mythic is not supporting an official forum, which is a bit worrisome). It’s all starting to sound more and more like Funcom’s pre-launch problems. There are plenty of positive posts, but Age of Conan had loads of fanbois as well. There seems to [...]
